1. Do make a lot of copies of your important records. Make three photocopies of your passport, visa and other important documents, such as Travelers Checks. If originals are lost or stolen, you will not have enough problems searching for replacement.

2. Purchase an international student health insurance beforehand. Don’t be unprepared from unwanted sickness and the cost it will give you.
3. Purchase an international roaming cell phone or prepaid cards from the airport once you arrived to your destination to make calling home simple and less expensive. Don’t forget to bring with you your updated address book.

4. Prepare your finances. Apply for an international ATM, because you don’t know when you’ll be needing money for incidentals.
5. Get prescriptions from licensed medical practitioner, to cover your needs while you are away. Also, verify that the prescriptions you are taking with you are not considered controlled substances in the country you are planning to go to.
6. Pack all guide booklets/brochures and pre departure materials in carry-on luggage, including a map of the area you are traveling to. This guarantees that even if luggage is lost or stolen, you’ll have everything you need as soon as your plane touches down.

7. Lastly, save room in your luggage because you don’t want to forget buying souvenirs when you return home.

Some Disadvantages of Cheap Travel Deals

July 10th, 2010 by editor

50.jpg

Of course if there are advantages in Cheap Travel Deals, you have to expect disadvantages also like: Hotels who offers a cheap accommodation will turn up to be having staffs who waits for something in return of their services. And you can also be subjected to sales pitches to buy time-shares by low- priced resorts. What you thought would be a perfect vacation could turn into a bad dream when you realize that a few places, workers still expect a tip, even if there are notices posted already in the front desk. Tipping would also give you that extra bit of service. At the resorts, there are tip jars you can find everywhere. Tipping is strictly prohibited in some resorts and you need to find out in advance what kind of resort you are planning to go to. Another disadvantage of taking an all inclusive holiday is that after reaching the resort, everything you do has to be paid for and some resorts also have limited access to activities. If you are not careful, a vacation you thought would help you to get away from it all may actually turn into a vacation that is restrictive and more costly. A trip to the mainland and back is the only feature offered by some packages. That means that they get you to the resort and back, to leave for home. All other visits and excursions become your responsibility and you have to pay for it.

Pro-Rated Rates – Bad Insurance!

March 14th, 2009 by Administrator

Several cases of insurance firms using credit ratings for computing the insurance rates for automobile insurance have been found guilty of discrimination in their processing of applications. As with any US law, all are equally entitled to the same product anywhere any day so any sort of pre-inclination to deny anyone coverage for an auto insurance because of race, skin color, ethnicity and credit ratings at the set levels is illegal. Of the several that were found violating the law, they were denied applications for rates increases that should have allowed them to operate at par with the rest of the pack.
Denial means they have to retain their prices as payment for their misbehavior, and will be attended to when they have mended their ways. Insurance rates are determined by lawmakers and may vary from state to state depending on several factors such as congestion, volume and many more. These are verified and checked by lawmakers for their accuracy and justness which is aimed to allow each and every American to gain access to the same product whoever they may be.

Fraudulent Travel Insurance Practices

January 13th, 2009 by Administrator

travelinsuranceOne who travels regularly would know the true value of a good travel insurance contract from an established insurance firm. From lost bags, trip cancellations to the many other unfortunate events that can happen when you travel, insurance can give you the peace of mind that you are covered anywhere and at anytime. There are however some issues you should be quite nosy about with respect to travel insurance where ever you may be in the world, accreditation.
In a recent case from Florida, many unpaid travel insurance claims have led lawmakers to issue cease and desist orders to some travel agencies who have been selling travel insurance from a firm that was not only unlicensed in the state, but has long been closed for business. Travel insurance companies have to be registered and acknowledged by national insurance groups as well as licensed to sell products in a specific state. It does not mean that a company selling products in one state can do so in another however established and credible it may be. They can only be allowed if they are properly licensed and recognized by the state they wish to sell insurance in and again in the other states they wish to do business in. This is to avoid creating a headache for government and travel companies who have to deal with unpaid claims of victims of these scoundrels who prey on the wary.

If you are planning to take an overseas trip, you should definitely look into purchasing a trip travel insurance policy for yourself, your travel companions and your family. So, you may be asking right about now, what is travel insurance? Travel insurance is a short term policy which usually covers things like medical expenses, financial losses and the like for the duration of a trip, whether domestic or overseas.

If you are purchasing a single trip policy make sure you are covered for enough time. Add a few days to the start of the trip for coverage in case of early cancellation and a few days after you are due to return in case you have to stay a few extra days.

Travel insurance is also available on an annual basis. This is great if you have to travel often. Check the premium costs for a single trip verses an annual policy that will cover any number of trips for the whole year. Again, read the exclusions, you may think you are getting a deal but you may not be getting great coverage.

Single or annual trip travel insurance will most often include coverage for loss of luggage to loss of life. These situations rarely occur, but if they did, they could be financially devastating for the traveler of their family.

Check your current medical policy and look online for trip travel insurance. You will want something that will cover emergencies such as accidental death, medical, theft or trip cancellation.
