One who travels regularly would know the true value of a good travel insurance contract from an established insurance firm. From lost bags, trip cancellations to the many other unfortunate events that can happen when you travel, insurance can give you the peace of mind that you are covered anywhere and at anytime. There are however some issues you should be quite nosy about with respect to travel insurance where ever you may be in the world, accreditation.
In a recent case from Florida, many unpaid travel insurance claims have led lawmakers to issue cease and desist orders to some travel agencies who have been selling travel insurance from a firm that was not only unlicensed in the state, but has long been closed for business. Travel insurance companies have to be registered and acknowledged by national insurance groups as well as licensed to sell products in a specific state. It does not mean that a company selling products in one state can do so in another however established and credible it may be. They can only be allowed if they are properly licensed and recognized by the state they wish to sell insurance in and again in the other states they wish to do business in. This is to avoid creating a headache for government and travel companies who have to deal with unpaid claims of victims of these scoundrels who prey on the wary.
